"Women's fashions in the early 1920's experienced dramatic changes following the end of the first world war, in a period often referred to as the "roaring 20's", the era of the "flapper".The passing of bustles and corsets gave clothing designers much greater freedom of expression resulting in innovative styling. Women dressing in the new and colorful fabrics echoed the joy felt by a war weary population following the end of hostilities.1920's Dresses were lighter (due to less material and new synthetic fabrics) and brighter and shorter than ever before. Fashion designers played with fabric colors, textures and patterns to create totally new styles of dress. Evening dresses, coats and jackets were often trimmed with fur. Hemlines rose for most of the decade but dropped slightly toward the end." http://www.1920-30.com/fashion/
During this decade world war I ended which cause many women rights.  During the 1920's, many things changed including women fashion. A whole new idea of a woman arose. Woman were now called flapper which was the new image of a woman that drank, voted, ect. Women dresses became much shorter and many started wearing bright colors and a lot of jewelry.

OriginThese types  of dresses originated when the world war I ended and women earned their freedom. Women decided not to waste time and wanted to enjoy life. Women started wearing, acting the way they wanted. Nearly every type of clothing was changed or cut down shorter. Their dresses started having "V" shaped dresses. Some famous fashion designers that created these dresses were Patou, Molyneux, Chanel, Boue Souers, Louiseboulanger, Augustabernard and Vionnet.

Purpose: The major purpose for these dresses was to show that women were free to act and dress however they wished. This piece brought a lot of change in the century. Flappers broke away the tradition of the Victorian age. Everyone was changing there style of dresses which became more wide spread through out they country. Women stopped wearing corset, they cut their hair shorter, and cut layers of clothing from dresses to make movement easier. More elegancy arose and people acted in a more richer way.

Value: This peace expresses many change during the decade. Women went from the Victorian age which was very simple to Flapper which was highly fashionable.

Limitation: This peace doesn't show everyone opinion on flappers. It doesn't show weather parent at the time liked it or not or if young teens liked it. It doesn't tell if their were any people against flappers. Did people like women who drank and smoke? It doesn't tell us weather flappers were looked at in a good way or not.other supported them.
