1950-1959

cute 1950s style dress
"The boxy structure of 1940's women’s fashion came to an end in the 1950's as Christian Dior’s soft, rounded “New Look” gained popularity in America. With the men back from war, women focused on their suburban role as homemakers, and looked for clothing that was easy to wash and keep neat. Acrylic, spandex and polyester were introduced during the decade". http://shopruche.com/1950s-fashion.html

During this decade many new styles and ways of dressing up in the 1950's. The options for these types of dresses were endless.

Origin: This "new look" was invented by Christian Dior. Christian Dior became a popular clothing designer in 1950's and still exist today. As the decade continued, the styles of dresses became different and many people started to wear them.

Purpose: The purpose for the dresses was to bring a new trend in the era and remove old fashion clothes. The dresses mainly had a floral and gingham pattern.

Value: These dresses had lots of value because they became really popular and were very expensive.

Limitations: Although these dresses brought many changes in style during this decade, it doesnt tell much about the economic. It shows that the economic had moved on from the great depression stage  but what it doesnt tell much about the WW2,etc.
